Happy Memorial Day

The wonder of a miracle From which this love began There is so much found In the touch of a childs hand The promise of tomorrow And the hopes of dreams come true A reminder of the love We have for you Welcome to the family Emilee Madison There was a spark of pure love Among an ocean of stars Some saw it faintly But most not at all A tiny child waiting So lonely, so small At the far East of the Globe Behind a fortified Wall My love burns so brightly Born from that spark This perpetual flame grows Now the brightest of stars Look up tonight my angel See the stars in the sky Ill do the same And we will share the night Bask in the moonlight Shine in the sun For they will hold you tight until I arrive Like your birthmother I love you You are a shining light to all A star of destiny In a child so small To be loved by so many What a lucky child you are By a mother in your birth country and a mother so far You are now safe and warm In a nursery bed With other children like you All attached to their string of red Your nannies are with you To take care of you Until I am able to get you Which is what I am trying to do Like your birth mother before They will bundle you tight With their hopes and their dreams And a prayer through the night They will pack all your memories And wrap you with tears They will hand you to a stranger And deny all their fears Then they will look to the sky For the brightest of lights And see your great beauty And hug you so tight One land so poor One land so rich It depends where you’re standing As to which one is which We will fly home together Just you and me dear We will build a bridge together Built by love and with care

Emilee and Lauren

28 May 2006

It has been 2 months since I was united with my daughter; and today, she is exactly 11 months old! She has changed so much, and it has been such a joy to wake up to her smiling beautiful face each morning and to watch her learn, grow, and blossom each day. Emilee is a happy, loving, and very affectionate baby. She has an infectious laugh and gives the sweetest kisses in the world! She plays this adorable game- She loves to give you Tibetan Kisses. When you ask for a kiss, she leans her head in forward for you to rub your head against hers. Then she looks up and gives you the biggest smile. Emilee loves to flirt. She trys to catch strangers eyes and then after they come to see her, she buries her face in whoever is caring her and trys to act shy. Emilee has 8 teeth now: the four on the top and the four on the bottom. She is also starting to cut her molars. Poor thing. She always has her hands in her mouth. surpizingly with all the pain and discomfort she must be experiencing, she still has a happy disposition. Emilees biggest accomplishment to date is her crawling. Finally after much coaching she is catching on and her feet now follow her arms. Two months ago, Emilee could not roll over or sit herself up, now she is very mobile. She can also pull herself up to stand while holding onto something. We think she will be walking very soon! She loves exploring and is into everything. She is such a curious child and needs to touch everything. Currently we are working on verbal skills. They seem to be developing more slowly. She understands everything to our amazement. But she is not forming words. She does look intently at peoples lips and often feels them to try to grasp the movement and sound of the moth forming the words. She trys to imitate the movement with her moth, but the sounds are not forming yet. I am patiently waiting to find out what her first words are going to be. I guess I will have to wait a bit longer to find out. Emilee LOVES books and is always handing one to me to read with her. She correctly turns the pages on command, and points to the words and pictures. Today, she picked up one of her board books and started looking at it upside down. She immediately turned the book right side up! I was so impressed! She also LOVES music, and she loves to dance! Whenever she hears music she wiggles her arms and shakes her bum. Her hands move up and down to the beat and her head bobs from side to side. It is the cutest thing to watch.I cannot tell you what a joy the last two months have been for me. I am the happiest I have ever been. I cannot wait to see Emilee grow and develop into the amazing person she will become.
