BLACK AND WHITE WEDNESDAY -- WINTER WONDERLAND---- AT LEAST FOR EMILEE IT WAS

Sunday morning New York was hit with a massive blizzard. Its funny i have been secretly jealous of all the beautiful snow pictures I have been looking at since Thanksgiving all over the United States and wanted a little white stuff to come my way. like they say, becareful what you wish for. Snowmeizer dumped 3 feet of snow with gusting wings at my door step. Emilee could not have been more excited as she jumped around singing " let it snow" and " I'm walking in a winter wonderland" all through the house. Finally Monday morning after the winds and blizzard calmed down we ventured out. Emilee had the same look she had Christmas morning. You see you don't need toys, just a little snow to make kids happy. LOL. She ran, jumped, climbed, threw snowballs and dug tunnels. I even heard myself say a comment i never thought in my life i would say " sure honey, its Ok to play in the street... have fun". ( Its not like any cars could come down. In fact it didn't look like anyone was coming down the street until spring. It took hours before i convinced her to come back in warm up a bit and then go back out. Emilee spend the whole day frolicking in the snow and having a blast. Finally as the sun set she came back in, took a nice warm bath and drifted off to a deep sleep. Tuesday morning she jumped up ready to conquer the snow again. Since our streets has still not been cleared she ran right out into the middle of them with a devilish smile on her face. We adults in my neighborhood were not so happy. During the night two different snowplows tried to make it down our block only to get stuck and have to be towed. It seemed like they would never dig us out. Then at about 1pm snow plow number 3 came. It made it half way down the block until it hit a snow bank right in front of my house, fishtailed and got stuck. It took 8 hours until someone came to rescue the poor guy who sat in his truck texting the whole day. In fact I'm not sure he wanted to be rescued the way he acted. He didn't even try to dig himself out, he just sat there.... Finally at 9pm another snow truck came by three guys came out to see if the originally driver was OK. The original stuck driver got out of the truck, handed the keys over to one of the guys and said my shift is over and walked away. You have to love NYC sanitation. For those of you watching the news I'm sure you have been hearing all the stories. An hour later they finally dug the truck out and backed it up the street. Well at least half the street was cleared. Finally at 11pm a truck came down with a massive plow beeping its horn and you would think it was New years the way everyone came out of their houses screaming and cheering. We finally have a street again. Now its time to did the cars out. I'm sure there some where under all the snow. Its odd, i have been a New Yorker all my life and i have never seen such a slowdown in snow removal. Usually its gone the next day.
