Emilee went for her one year medical check up last week. The doctor could not believe how much she has grown. She is now 31 1/2 inches tall which puts her in the 95% for Us Children 150% for Chinese Children. She also has a size 5 shoe. I think she is going to be very tall. She did however loose a pound --she is now 18 lbs--which the doctor was not happy about. I don't understand how a child that can eat as much as she does loose weight. I wish I had her metabolism. We are going back next month to see if she gained weight and to get more shots.

Welcome to America Abby....
My best friend Kathy just arrived home from China with her Daughter Abigail Elizabeth Cheng Xia, ( photo to the Left is of Abigail and her older daughter Emily, 8, who was adopted from Vietnam) Abigail was born on August 13, 2005 in Yangjiang City, Guangdong.
The funny thing is that Kathy and I both got eachother our children. Being that we are both single we had to scramble and jump hoops for our spots. She told me about the lottery for GWCA and we both applied. I received a spot and she didn't. I felt horrible. Getting my spot with GWCA was a bitter sweet moment. ( previously Kathy and I had waited 3 years for Vietnam to reopen, we both got caught in the closures waiting for our children). About a month after I received my spot I was on line and found out that FTIA was accepting application for their lottery. I immediately called Kathy ( It was 8pm in the evening) and made her download the application and go to Kinkos to send it. The applications had to be in by noon the next day. Three days later on the first day of Chinese New Year Kathy got a call that she had a spot. I thought we would land up going to China together. I sent my dossier to GWCA on April 15 and landed up with a LID of April 27. She sent hers in April 20 and landed up with a LID of May 31. I received my referral in Feb she received her referral April 27. I received my daughter March 29 and she received her daughter on June 20. Its amazing what a difference a week and a half can make in the adoption process.
Abigail is such a doll. She is so sweet and gentle and Emily is an amazing big sister.
Josephs Quilt
When I was making the one Hundred Good wishes Quilt for Emilee, I also made both my nephews quilts of thier own for when they sleep over. Andrews is an army Theme and Josephs is a Surfing Theme.
