NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDENS

MOORE IN AMERICA Two weeks ago Galina and I took the girls to the New York Botanical Gardens to see the Henry Moore exhibit. Henry Moore is one of my favorite sculptors. I love looking at the boldness and roundness of his massive sculptures. The gardens served as a majestic backdrop for his massive works of art. It was truly majestic to walk around the rich and lush gardens and stumble across such a captivating collection. The girls had a blast wandering around the gardens and admiring the sculptures. Although I think they loved the fact that they could climb on the giant sculptures. We all admire art in our own way. Emilee was taken by their size and smoothness. She loves running her hands over the shinny, cold stone. Her favorite piece was Mother with Child. She loved the fact that the Mommy was cradling the baby. When I lifted her up to see the statue she immediately began hugging and kissing the baby. Cailyn and Emilee spent the longest time playing a pretend game about taking care of the baby. It was so sweet. I wish I would have brought my video camera with me. But their favorite part of the day was when we went to the children's gardens. The children's garden has a steel flower that can be taken apart and put back together. They must have spent at least an hour taking each piece of the flower out and piling them up on each other until they collapsed on the ground. They would then pick each piece up put them back in their holder to create the flower again, only to take it apart again. The two girls giggled so much that they were exhausted when they finally finished. It truly was a beautiful day..
