DISNEY GIRL

A THROW BACK FROM MY YOUTH

While walking in Disney i looked down and was telaported back to high school. In High School I was taking a photography class and the assignment was to photo graph a series of items that are unique to your home town. As i walked through the streets of New York there was so much i could have chosen. Skyscrapers, Monuments, Buildings, street vendors.... but for some reason I chose pothole covers. While walking down the streets trying to figure out one object that all the neighborhoods had in common i was struck by the fact that manhole covers all have distinct markings to their ares. China Town has the words Chinatown on them and Chinese characters on them and Lexington avenue has Lexington in beautiful block letters and a beautiful diamond pattern. I wounder if someone actually has a title " Man Hole Cover Designer". I have great photos of all the different Manhole Covers around Manhattan and for a while they were chosen to hang in my school. Then like everything else they were packed away and forgotten. That was until Disney. upon looking down at the ground i noticed the Manhole covers and saw that Disney had their own unique ones. Its truly amazing how something so small and insignificant can conjure up wonderful memories.
