JAMES LANE DAY

Emilees school has a holiday called James Lane day. James Lane was a former student who passed away a few year back from leukemia. James loved to make bird houses so on the first anniversary of his passing his parents donated 10 cherry blossom trees, a bench in his name and a rock with a plaque dedicated to him. every year on his anniversary the children of the school make bird houses and hang them in all the trees around the campus. They also have a planting ceremony and a class is chosen to sing a song. It truly is a beautiful memorial and the children get really involved the weeks prior to it. Since I was not invited to the ceremony it was for students only Emilee wanted to show me the Bird Houses. So Sunday when we were at the school for Cheer leading we got there a bit early to walk around and admire the houses. They are even more stunning in person. The kids did an amazing job. I'm sure James is smiling at all their hard work.

LOVE

Emilee loves horses. She talks about it all the time and loves to play horse with her friends. Its funny to watch them fight over who is going to be which horse. She wants every stuffed horse, every horse book or any other item that may feature a horse. When we get to the stables she jumps out of the car before it even comes to a complete stop. She cant wait to greet her Friends-- the horses- and surprise them with treats she has tucked away in her pockets. She is so gentle and kind with them and loves to tell them her deepest secrets. She is convinced that they speak to her also. But when she is on the back of a horse and she is in full gallop with the wind blowing through her hair I can see something special. She has an expression of pure joy and peace. It is as if that is where she is meant to be. To her riding a horse is like being on top of the world. It is at that moment that you can feel that she is at one with all the world and all is good.
She may love riding, but I love looking at her and feeling the energy that radiates around her. Its a mothers joy.

RAINY DAYS AND TUESDAYS ARE THE BEST
