DAY ONE AT PRINCESS JULIAS
Our second part of our Texas adventure was driving 4 hours up to Austin to visit The Colbert family. When I was waiting for Emilee, there was a Yahoo group ( message board) set up for all the families from our agency that had the same Log In Date. Through this board we all shared stories and information. Comforted each other though the long wait and developed friendships. One of the families i met though this group was Kathleen and Chris. On January 25, 2006, we both received pictures of our greatest treasures and in March of that year these amazing children were finally placed in our arms. Our journey and our time in China bonded us. Over the past 3 years, we exchanged emails, cards and caught up on blogs. Although we have watched each other girls grow up via the Internet we feel a great friendship. We have talked about getting together many times, but distance has kept us apart. Especially since Kathleen, Chris and Julia live in Singapore most of the year. I knew they were coming back to Texas for a few weeks so i knew I had to catch the moment and coordinate a trip. Since i had also planned on visiting the Shatto family in Austin, I began to work on dates that would work for both families. After numerous emails going back and forth a date was made and our journey began. The only regret is that our visit was so short. 36 hours. But let me tell you, you can pack a lot of fun in 36 hours. Playing, dinner, the cupcake truck, more play, a little sleep, breakfast, more play, birthday party, gifts, dinner, and more play was our schedule... Kathleen is a master planner and an amazing host. She though of everything. The girls got along fabulously. It was like they knew each other their whole life. They were so cute together. Hugging, holding hands, playing, laughing and occasional duets. It was so fun and wonderful to finally be together. The adults got along great too and played beautifully together. Plans are in the works for meeting in Singapore, Australia and New York and next time, it will be more than 36 hours!
Kathleen and Chris we can not thank you enough for everything.
