Lost in translation.
Emilee is positive that she know hows to speak Spanish. She also believes she knows how to speak French and Chinese. It's amazing what a few episodes of Dora, Ni Hao Kai Lan and a few of choruses of Frere Jacques will do for a child. She sings songs that are made up entirely of nonsense words and then tells me she is singing in Chinese. she can count to 10 in Mandarin and Spanish thanks to Kai Lan and Dora. And she know a few words in both languages. She asks me all the time how to say words in Spanish and sometimes I know the answer but most of the time I don't. She is convinced if you add an "A" to the end of a word that makes it the Spanish equivalent. She was talking to her fish Shang one day having a pretend conversation to him in pretend Chinese. She told me that Shang- her fish- only understands Chinese and she can talk to him. One day after watching Dora she told me she wanted to teach Shang Spanish. She repeated the words she heard Dora say insisting that Shang was saying them back to her. Then she kept saying sang is "Acutea". To which I said, "What does "acutea" mean?"She answered, with a bit of how-could-you-possibly-not-know-what-that-means shock in her voice, "Mommy, it's cute in Spanish."Oh, but of course it is.

Are our girls really similar in almost everything or is it characteristic of their age? I do not have a clue.
